NJ Casino, Gambling Industry Scores 2.2% Increase In June

New Jersey’s gambling industry witnessed a 2.2% increase in revenue in June compared to the figures it secured in the same month a year ago.

According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, casinos, horse tracks and online gambling platforms based in New Jersey won $401.5 million from wagers of players last month.

The different gambling companies in the Garden State have already recorded $2.43 billion, a 15.2% increase from the $2.11 billion reported last year.

Based on the figures, the Atlantic City’s nine casinos are significantly recovering from the losses they incurred at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, as pointed out by the Press of Atlantic City.

So far this 2022, the city’s total casino gaming revenue already secured a 19% increase over last year since it has topped $2.2 billion.

Without counting the figures from online gambling and sports betting in New Jersey, the revenue of the brick-and-mortar casinos grew by 7% over last June.

Meanwhile, the online components of casinos and virtual gambling services collectively posted $133.1 million last month. It was a notable 24% increase from last June’s $107.1 million.

“The peak summer season is still ahead of us, and, with the uncertainty of the potential Local 54 strike settled for most casinos, the summer looks promising,” said Jane Bokunewicz, the faculty director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism at Stockton University.
