Wheel of Fortune has such a huge following that Sony Pictures Television has decided to come up with an online casino inspired by the game show.
The Hollywood studio recently partnered with the mobile gaming operator BetMGM and International Game Technology to work on the Wheel of Fortune Casino, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
The online gambling site is set to launch in New Jersey later this year. There is no specific date for its debut yet, so fans should wait for the official announcement from Sony Pictures.
“We are delighted to be partnering with BetMGM for the launch of Wheel of Fortune‘s very first online casino. With Wheel of Fortune celebrating its 40th season this year, we are pleased to continue offering players additional, new ways to play the games they know and love,” Sony Pictures Television executive vp for game shows Suzanne Prete said.
This would not be the first time for Wheel of Fortune to venture into the online gambling industry. The famous game show franchise has already seen 250 versions of slot games with its title plastered on them.
New Jersey is known for being the most innovative state in the country when it comes to new gambling options. So it does not come as a surprise that Sony Pictures and BetMGM will be targeting the market with the upcoming online casino.
“Wheel of Fortune is watched nightly by millions of people, and BetMGM is honored to partner with Sony Pictures Television and IGT to bring this online casino experience to life. Once live, Wheel of Fortune Casino will offer players the excitement of their favorite game show and real money wagering in the palm of their hand,” BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost said in a press release.
According to BetMGM, the Wheel of Fortune Casino is going to be “the first full brand-led online casino in North America.” It remains to be seen if the casino will bring something new to the table in the very competitive sea of US online casinos.
